This painting was inspired by a time when I helped to rehabilitate a young pigeon who had lead poisoning. I found the pigeon on the sidewalk unable to fly. After two weeks of medication, the pigeon recovered and was released. The composition was inspired by the care and love between a mated pair of pigeons. In this painting, there is the added care for a mate that is ill or injured.
